Re: steel vs aluminum trailers i will add one caveat to my previous statement. for a small boat, like jon boat or similar, that's being used infrequently, i would make an exception to my opinion of aluminum. my apoligies, the trailer shouldn't be worth more than the boat, however, these are not the boats that came to mind when this thread was. Re: weight difference between steel and aluminum trailer? some aluminum i beam trailers actually weigh more than their steel version. most of the time, the aluminum vs steel difference is less than 200# for comparable trailers..
