Boat Plans Uk | just another day but different

Boat Plans Uk

Just the sort of political discourse we should be hearing more of (but seldom do) these days, a film you really should check out, and the only halfway-sane Republican candidate leaves the clown car...

So, as the much missed John Lennon once sang, this is Christmas, and, if it happens to be your particular Holidaze festivity of choice, heres hoping its a good one for you and yours.

Me, Im looking forward to the traditional fare of my people for this hallowed night by making Chinese (heavy on the ginger) food and just generally kicking back, not reading any news, and reading a good (Foolish Voyage) book.

All the best.

Boat Plans Bruce Roberts | Australia Day New Launching ! Bruces Mushulu 14

Boat Plans Bruce Roberts

Hi Mark
?
Bruces Mushulu 14
?
We finally have had a break in the weather, as you would well know, so off we went on Australia Day to launch our Mushulu 14. The weather was fine, but with the wind gusting to around 20 knots, it wasn’t all smooth motoring, as you could imagine. The boat hit the water and guess what ? No leaks ! So I must have done something right.

So I did a couple of runs up and down so Sue could get some shots with the camera and then we put in all the fishing gear and stuff and off we went.

The boat handled the 2ft chop with ease and the 30hp Mercury was more than enough power for that boat. Also we didn’t seem to get wet at all, must be the shape of the hull I suppose that seems to spray the water out and not up, so that was good.

????
There was more than enough room for the 2 of us, with 4 rods/ 2 tackle boxes/ esky and associated gear. We didnt really need to use the hatches at all in the seats except when we caught those few giant bucks , they only just fitted in thank goodness. Lucky, because they wouldn’t have fitted into the esky with all of the other fish that we caught. Naturally we had a couple of cold ones to celebrate the launching, with a lot of great comments from people at the ramp about the boat.

What a great design !
Thanks Mate
??
see ya .

Plywood Boat Plans Australia | Yeah its that day again

Plywood Boat Plans Australia

5000 kids with not a turkey in sight, a CEOs Thanksgiving wet dream, a little needful reading, and easily the best description/rundown of the current clown car posse Ive yet come across...

Considering the day, I cant think of a better way to get started by saying thank you for reading Boat Bits, thank you for coming back, and thank all of you who drop me lines with your thoughts, links to neat stuff, and friendly banter. Its appreciated and I know Im lucky to have such a great audience.

Thanks...

Hi Mark,
I put the final undercoat this morning tomorrow I will guide coat and bring it down to 240 grit and give the underside a top coat then I will flip it .
Apart from 8 wild bees playing havoc and sticking to the wet paint I think it will come up OK.
So far I have used 43 – 45 Litres of resin approximately 36 litres in the lay up and 7 – 8 litres in the bog.
In the layup I am using 420 – 430 gramms of resin per square metre of 456 gramm double bias matt.

Regards
Graham

Plywood Boat Plans Australia | Some apt Labor Day news

Plywood Boat Plans Australia

Someone making some sense, EBM asks an important question, and about that beefed up in blue with the telltale acne look...

For anyone needing to buy boat stuff over the rest of the Labor Day weekend or in the near future, you should be aware that the union warehouse workers at Defender are currently on strike. I dont think I need to tell any Boat Bits readers that its always negative karma to cross picket lines (and that includes an online order).

Boat Blind Plans | Just another day in the greed zone

Boat Blind Plans

Metastasized global economy pretty much says it all, just about the profit, and in the "poisonous corrosive man" department...

A reader sent me a link this morning to this...
...wanting to know if it was a good deal.

Now, I could easily insert a whole lot of snark here, go off on a rant of epic proportions, or simply acknowledge that, in point of fact, that the quote most often attributed to Mr Barnum (that he most likely never said) would be spot on.

Instead Ill just answer the question...

West Marine sells it for $299.99 and Defender sells it for $235.99 so the one youre inquiring about is not really a good deal and, if youre going to spend your money foolishly, youre better off giving it to the folks at Defender.

Then again, if you want something that does the same job just as well for a non-stupid price like this one...

Just $13
Really, just how stupid do they think we are?

Boat Plans Bateau | Weekly Overview from Bowdidge Marine Designs

Boat Plans Bateau

What a week … and we had SUNSHINE for a change!

You all may have noticed that we’ve updated the look of our Website. I figured it was time for a change and also to add a few more new features, as well as this “latest News Blog”.

We also had another “Latest New Launchings” from Bruce who built the Mushulu 14 !

Our latest Design “The Black Label 30” is now under construction and we’re looking forward to the first lot of pictures to come through.

Nathan, who is building the Black Label comments:

“Gday Fellas!!!
Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement, and I’m sorry I’ve been so slack posting over the past two weeks. Since I started, in those two weeks I’ve only had 11 hours on the build (all at nite after work) I haven’t even had a weekends work on her yet because I HAD to go camping. I say had because, I’m usually dead keen on the outdoors but there was something in my shed that didn’t want me to go camping!! Anyway this weekends gunna just be for the boat - my jig is finished and I’m hoping to finish cutting all my temp frames out today, which I might add, is a task in itself. They are freiken huge!!!!!!!!!!!
Will post photos tonight so - stay posted!

So, well keep you posted as his build begins

We hear from David and Sue from Paulownia Paradise that the Melbourne Wooden Boat Festival was a great success with many enquiry’s about their timber and also about our designs.
Unfortunately, I got word this morning that Sue had a major fall and broke both her arms. So we wish her all the best and ....get well soon Sue.

We also wish our good friends, Ross and Rhonnie Lillingstone from Bayside Wooden Boats, who were caught up in the terrible Qld floods all the best, as our hearts go out to them with what they had to go through, as the floods went through their home, destroying their cars and other damage.
He writes:
Here are some photos of the flood damage at our place in Esk.

It was difficult to pick photos which give a realistic impression of the destruction to the creek environs - unless you are standing there the scale is difficult to comprehend. In the photo you can see Rhonnie looking at where our bridge used to be, taken about five days after the flood. She is walking down to what used to be a beautiful grassed bank with lots of thick vegetation and a huge mulberry tree - now all gone!
Anyway this gives you some idea of what went on, and we consider ourselves to have been some of the lucky ones and to have come off lightly.                                                                                        Our flood repairs are going slowly, but well, and we now have a 300m x 5m track into our place which doesnt require a creek crossing. We are in negotiations with the owner of the property concerned, and will hopefully be able to purchase the strip, allowing us to develop it into a permanent driveway. Still havent seen an insurance assessor, so the inside work is going slowly - rubbish piling up on the verandah.

However, we are still smiling!
Ross and Rhonnie

So our hearts go out to them as well and if you have the time, support a fellow Australian and wish them a speedy recovery via email:
Email Ross:

We hope you have a great weekend
Have a good one !
Regards
Mark
