"The Black Label 27 “ was inspired by the slippery old hulls that were developed during the age of the rumrunner’s.
The hull design concept involves narrow sections, a fine entry, and long, flat buttocks and fairbody which means ... she slices.
Her accomodations include an island lounge upstairs, whilst in the forward cabin she as a full galley/ large double berth and an enclosed shower/toilet.
Also the Black label is styled to reduce windage, and its that styling that adds to the overall effect. All forward-facing surfaces on the superstructure are raked aft and slanted back to spill wind up and over the crew. All molding and trim is in keeping with this aerodynamic flow.

Over the weekend, Phil sent in his latest build pictures of his RipTide 457. With the hull now turned over and glassed, hes now installing the longitudinals and bulkheads and is now tabbing them in.

 

A comment he made was he couldnt believe just how strong the boat is !!

Graham has sent in his latest build pictures of his SportzMaster 19 with the bottom plate all faired and primed, ready for painting! It wont be long now and hell be rolling it over to begin the internals.!? ??????

Hi Mark,

I put the final undercoat this morning tomorrow I will guide coat and bring it down to 240 grit and give the underside a top coat then I will flip it .

Apart from 8 wild bees playing havoc and sticking to the wet paint I think it will come up OK.

So far I have used 43 – 45 Litres of resin approximately 36 litres in the lay up and 7 – 8 litres in the bog.

In the layup I am using 420 – 430 gramms of resin per square metre of 456 gramm double bias matt.

Michael from WA (Australia) has just begun to build his boat.
He comments:
"I look forward to building the Mushulu 12. I am a first time builder and should learn a lot along the way.
I have built the cradle and have attached the pictures below. Next, I want to cut out the temporary frames and all the panels. As I have explained to Mark I am not the best cutter with the jigsaw but will do my best to keep to the pencil lines. "

After having his boat stolen and looking around for the past 6 months, Phil approached us about building the RipTide 457. He wanted a boat not only for fishing the rivers and lakes, but also for outside use as well, crossing the Brisbane bar and fishing around the brisbane islands.

SportzMaster 19 & Mushulu 14 under the tarp

Well, its 6.30pm and Cyclone Yasi has started to show us what its made of, the wind has increased to 100klm and it has started to rain.

We managed to store the Sportzmaster and the Mushulu in the garage for safe keeping.

In our area the wind is expected to reach 290 klm, I hope the house holds up.

Overall, we have around 20 clients in the area where the cat 5 cyclone will hit, so were thinking of them and wish them all the best.


Thousands of north Queenslanders are hunkered down in shelters and homes waiting for the most powerful cyclone in nearly a century to slam into the coast south of Cairns.


Category five tropical Cyclone Yasi should make landfall between Innisfail and Cardwell around 11pm (AEST) on Wednesday, with authorities confident they have picked the spot within a 30km range of accuracy.
The cyclone is powered by winds of 295km/h, and gusts have already brought down trees, ruined weather monitoring equipment on Willis Island, off Cairns, and taken out power at Airlie Beach, Ayr and Townsville.


Yasi will cross the coast on the high tide, with an accompanying storm surge expected to engulf low-lying areas.
At Cardwell the surge could build to seven metres, and at Townsville up to three metres.
