Boat Plans Bolger | GREAT JPK 1080 VIDEO!!!

Boat Plans Bolger

Just some days after that post about the JPK 1080 interior Yacht.de posted a video with them test sailing the boat. The video is great but Michael Good, the test sailor, has to improve his solo sailing skills LOL. The video:

I Really like the boat, from the way it sails to the interior.

Boat Plans Butler | How to Strip Plank Videos

Boat Plans Butler

Since getting into strip plank composite designs, weve had so many enquirys on
"How do you strip plank?"

The general perception out there is that it looks very complicated, especially for the first time builder.

Well actually, its very, very easy!

Many of our clients have never built a boat before and using our method, are flying through their builds.

It was around 4 months ago that we decided to make these videos. One night whilst strip planking, I asked Debbie to grab the camera and said

"Lets have some fun and make a strip planking video. No rehersing or practice runs...just hit play and lets make it up as we go along."

So Debbie grabbed the camera, hit play and off we went. Crikey, I didnt know what I was going to say from one minute to the next !!

Well, after posting them on our forum, they were an outstanding success with many commenting how great they are and also how easy the process looks.  Sure theyre rough around the edges, but many have sinced used our build process after watching the videos a few times and then going out and duplicating the technique on their boats... with top results. Weve even got a few professional boatbuilders using our technique, whilst building our designs and commenting on just how easy it is!

No doubt, some of you have visited our Boatbuilding forum and not found the videos.
This is because the videos are only available to Members Only and not the general public. By joining our forum, you get full access to a greater range of topics and also access to these videos.

Overall the strip planking videos, (5 in all, ) play for a total time of 45 minutes, so if your interested in this building technique but are unsure of your building abilities, why not  Join our Boatbuilding Forum and see just how easy it is !!

In other words, anyone can do it !!!
                          ITS THAT EASY !

Have fun boatbuilding !!

Boat Plans Building | Mathews Mushulu 14

Boat Plans Building

Hi there everyone.
I’ve been watching you blokes building on the forum, while I’m having fun fishing… just thought you may like to know what I’ve been up to lately.
Here’s some mods I’ve been making on the Mushulu 14. After getting quite a bit of use out of the boat, I found it a bit annoying walking over the seat to drop the anchor and so on, so I thought about cutting part of the midship seat out for a walk-through and fitting out the section between the seat and foredeck with a fake floor. I wasn’t using the storage area in the mid-seat as much as I thought I would because there’s plenty of storage space in the foredeck and rear seat compartment.
After pencilling some measurements I could still retain two seats, the easy walk through and a nice foredeck to stand and fish from. It should be practical and look good once it’s all finished. I’m also planning to fit out a bulkhead, stern side, to mount forward controls and steering making life a little easier to cruise around… I’ll send some more pic’s as things develop…

Have a great day,
Mathew

Mathew rang me up prior to doing all this, asking if it was possible without effect the structural intregity of the hull. After looking over his proposal, we came up with this solution that would allow him access without effect the strength of the boat !

Boat Plans Bateau | Weekly Overview from Bowdidge Marine Designs

Boat Plans Bateau

What a week … and we had SUNSHINE for a change!

You all may have noticed that we’ve updated the look of our Website. I figured it was time for a change and also to add a few more new features, as well as this “latest News Blog”.

We also had another “Latest New Launchings” from Bruce who built the Mushulu 14 !

Our latest Design “The Black Label 30” is now under construction and we’re looking forward to the first lot of pictures to come through.

Nathan, who is building the Black Label comments:

“Gday Fellas!!!
Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement, and I’m sorry I’ve been so slack posting over the past two weeks. Since I started, in those two weeks I’ve only had 11 hours on the build (all at nite after work) I haven’t even had a weekends work on her yet because I HAD to go camping. I say had because, I’m usually dead keen on the outdoors but there was something in my shed that didn’t want me to go camping!! Anyway this weekends gunna just be for the boat - my jig is finished and I’m hoping to finish cutting all my temp frames out today, which I might add, is a task in itself. They are freiken huge!!!!!!!!!!!
Will post photos tonight so - stay posted!

So, well keep you posted as his build begins

We hear from David and Sue from Paulownia Paradise that the Melbourne Wooden Boat Festival was a great success with many enquiry’s about their timber and also about our designs.
Unfortunately, I got word this morning that Sue had a major fall and broke both her arms. So we wish her all the best and ....get well soon Sue.

We also wish our good friends, Ross and Rhonnie Lillingstone from Bayside Wooden Boats, who were caught up in the terrible Qld floods all the best, as our hearts go out to them with what they had to go through, as the floods went through their home, destroying their cars and other damage.
He writes:
Here are some photos of the flood damage at our place in Esk.

It was difficult to pick photos which give a realistic impression of the destruction to the creek environs - unless you are standing there the scale is difficult to comprehend. In the photo you can see Rhonnie looking at where our bridge used to be, taken about five days after the flood. She is walking down to what used to be a beautiful grassed bank with lots of thick vegetation and a huge mulberry tree - now all gone!
Anyway this gives you some idea of what went on, and we consider ourselves to have been some of the lucky ones and to have come off lightly.                                                                                        Our flood repairs are going slowly, but well, and we now have a 300m x 5m track into our place which doesnt require a creek crossing. We are in negotiations with the owner of the property concerned, and will hopefully be able to purchase the strip, allowing us to develop it into a permanent driveway. Still havent seen an insurance assessor, so the inside work is going slowly - rubbish piling up on the verandah.

However, we are still smiling!
Ross and Rhonnie

So our hearts go out to them as well and if you have the time, support a fellow Australian and wish them a speedy recovery via email:
Email Ross:

We hope you have a great weekend
Have a good one !
Regards
Mark
